China's Coal Mine Electrification Enters Large-Scale Application Phase in 2026

#Industry News ·2026-06-22 15:56:59

In the first half of 2026, with the continued implementation of national policies on intelligent mining, China's coal mine electrification process entered a stage of large-scale application exploration. Guiding opinions previously issued by the National Mine Safety Administration and other departments clearly stated that by 2026, the proportion of intelligent production capacity in national coal mines should be no less than 60%, and the replacement rate of intelligent equipment for dangerous and heavy-duty positions should be no less than 30%. Against this backdrop, the actual performance of electric mining equipment in multiple coal mine projects has attracted widespread attention. Recently, several coal mines in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and other regions have successively launched pilot projects for electrified equipment. Tracked electric muck loaders have demonstrated strong adaptability in inclined shaft muck removal operations. Their 25°-32° climbing ability and zero-emission characteristics effectively solve the pain points of traditional diesel equipment in ventilation-constrained environments. Feedback from some projects shows that after using electric tracked muck loaders, muck removal efficiency has increased by approximately 30%-45% compared to traditional methods, and underground ventilation energy consumption has significantly decreased. At the same time, the application of electric mining excavators in coal face excavation and auxiliary cleaning is also gradually expanding. Mainstream models, through the integration of remote monitoring systems, enable remote operation from the ground, further reducing the risks of underground operations. Multiple equipment manufacturers have stated that with the improvement of battery technology and charging infrastructure, the stability and range of pure electric equipment underground are continuously increasing. Industry observations show that in 2026, electrification will no longer be limited to the replacement of single pieces of equipment, but will develop towards the integration of "electrification + intelligence." Some advanced projects have already attempted to combine electric equipment with 5G communication and AI fault diagnosis systems to achieve collaborative operation of equipment clusters and real-time status monitoring. This not only improves production efficiency but also provides technical support for achieving the goal of less-manned and unmanned mines. Of course, some challenges remain in the transformation process. For example, the explosion-proof certification requirements for high-gas mines, the reliability verification of equipment under complex geological conditions, and the initial investment costs still require continuous efforts. Experts believe that in the future, hybrid and pure electric equipment will develop in parallel, gradually transitioning to full electrification. Overall, 2026 is a crucial year for the electrification of China's coal mines, moving from pilot demonstrations to large-scale applications. This transformation will not only help improve the inherent safety level of coal mines, but will also inject new momentum into the green and low-carbon development of the industry.
