In the first half of 2026, the global energy transition continued to deepen, with "mine electrification" being a key topic at numerous international energy and mining conferences. According to the latest report from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global market size for electric mining equipment is projected to grow by over 28% year-on-year in 2026. China, as the world's largest coal producer, has attracted particular attention for its practices in this field. Recently, several large coal mines in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi provinces have announced new electrification transformation plans. Electric tracked muck loaders and electric mining excavators have become key equipment purchases. In inclined shaft construction scenarios, electric tracked muck loaders have been well-received by engineering teams due to their excellent climbing performance and low emissions. Feedback from some projects indicates that after using electric equipment, the single-shift muck removal efficiency has increased by approximately 30%-45% compared to traditional diesel equipment, while underground ventilation costs have significantly decreased. At the technological level, new progress has also been made in the integration of electric equipment with intelligent systems. Some new equipment has integrated remote monitoring, real-time fault diagnosis, and automatic path planning functions, significantly improving operational safety. Industry experts point out that with the improvement of battery technology and charging infrastructure, the adaptability of pure electric equipment in underground mining will be further enhanced. However, the transformation process also faces some practical challenges. For example, explosion-proof certification requirements for high-gas mines, equipment stability under complex geological conditions, and initial investment costs remain important factors restricting large-scale promotion. How to achieve an economic balance while ensuring safety has become a common research topic for coal mining enterprises and equipment manufacturers. In the long run, 2026 is expected to be a key milestone for the electrification of China's coal mines, transitioning from "pilot demonstration" to "large-scale application." Many equipment manufacturers have stated that they will continue to increase R&D investment, promoting the development of electric mining equipment towards higher power, longer range, and greater intelligence. With the increasing global emphasis on sustainable development, coal mine electrification is not only a technological upgrade but also a significant manifestation of the industry's green transformation. In the future, the deep integration of more innovative technologies with actual working conditions will provide strong support for the safe, efficient, and green development of the mining industry.
